In 2002 I started working out at Chaillet’s Private Fitness at the urging of a Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon who said I needed to build muscle to help support my spine.  I’ve found that the flexible, customized program at this gym has made all aspects of my physical life easier by helping me develop and increase muscle mass and build strong bone.  I’m especially happy with the aesthetic by product of this training which includes the loss of flab, sculpting, and refining.

What makes this program work for me is having a personal trainer.  It takes the responsibility of education, customization of a program and safety when using the equipment out of my hands.  The trainers at CPF are serious about strength/fitness training – it’s their life’s work.

Staying strong and active as I age is my goal and I think I’ve taken a major step toward this end.

Initially when I thought of Chaillet’s I thought of competitive weightlifting and bodybuilding training. My son, who is just starting his freshman football season at Central York High School, had always been a little underweight for his sport. We were looking for someone who could teach him proper weightlifting technique and could help him pack on some muscle (lbs.) to prepare him for the demands of high school athletics. What we got far exceeded our expectations!

His trainer, Tori, has been nothing short of amazing! I don’t have enough positive things to say about her. She’s down to earth and fun. She’s relatable to teens and takes the time to get to know them. She’s encouraging and works with them at a pace that is conducive to their age, growth and development. She does an excellent job of building confidence. She expects hard work and helps them to see beyond what they think are their limits. My son has had no problem giving her 110% of his effort.

Tori has not only met our needs with weightlifting, but has worked with Adrian on everything from position specific muscle movements, hip flexibility, hand-eye coordination, balance, speed, endurance, footwork, health and nutrition. He has never wanted to work so hard for a trainer before. We have gotten far more out of our experience than we could have possibly hoped for. Tori and the Chaillet’s are like family to us.

My son gained over 20 lbs. and grew about 4 inches in the past 7 months and has started high school fully prepared for the field and weight room.

I highly recommend Chaillet’s training to any parent of a student athlete who wants to improve their sports performance for that next level be it high school, college or beyond. It’s an excellent program.

“When York County hosted the Can-Am Police and Fire Games in 2014, I attended the weightlifting completion at York Barbell. Ellen Chaillet was on the scene producing the meet. In the midst of dedicated weightlifters from all over the world, I admired Ellen’s physique the most. While I would love to look like her, I have not put the years of training and discipline that she has put into building her strength nor do I have the discipline that she has to eat a healthy diet. 

Staying healthy and becoming stronger is important to me.  It helps me maintain a more positive body image and bring more stamina into my life. Hi! I am a long-time runner, hiker, cyclist and yoga practitioner, as well as an overall fitness/ health advocate. I have been working out with a personal trainer at Chaillet’s for over 5 years…primarily to stay strong and physically balanced. As a “senior”, that is especially important to me. I “inherited” my current trainer, Tori, when my previous trainer relocated out of the area. She thought Tori and I would be a good “fit” and what a great call that was. Chaillet’s is a fantastic gym! They have a wide variety of equipment available, and all of it is well maintained and in fantastic condition. The atmosphere there also makes it enjoyable to work out. I first met Ellen in 2017 just after I had a major surgery. I was feeling unsure of my capabilities and what my body could handle.  My intent was to train with her for only three months.  Within the first month, I realized I found a diamond.

Ellen is extremely knowledgeable. She approaches training and my workouts with the knowledge and detail of a physical therapist.  All of my workouts are customized to meet my goals as she dynamically adapts the exercises depending on my body’s reaction. She is incredibly attentive and watches (and usually corrects) my form to ensure that I am optimally benefitting from each movement. I’ve strengthened, but never injured my body doing her wealthy portfolio of exercises.

Our hour of training flies by. I thought I would have seen all her “tricks” by now, but on a weekly basis, I continue to be delighted by her creative workouts.  Ellen provides a 5-star level of customer service and attention to detail that is rarely found anymore. I receive numerous benefits from training with
Ellen, but the ones that I am most grateful for are 1) a strong back and I no longer suffer from sciatica and can keep up with my physical week, 2) the feeling of overall strength and capability, and 3) the cherry on top – a toned body that allowed me to get into my wedding dress for my 25th wedding anniversary!
